Bells End Lazzeri's Streak
Tuesday, May 24th, 1932
Hollywood second baseman Tony Lazzeri came into today's game against the Mission Bells on a hot streak. He left on a cold one.

The Bells did their jobs well, beating the Hollywood Stars 3-0 and holding Lazzeri hitless to snap his 21-game hitting streak. The 28-year-old second baseman had a few words to say after finishing 0-for-4, telling reporters only that he "came up short."

"What Tony did was exciting and quite an achievement," said Stars manager Martin Abresch. "It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 21 games in a row. I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play."

This season Lazzeri has banged out 60 hits in 165 at-bats for a .364 average with 4 home runs. He is getting on base at a .435 pace and his totals also include 21 RBIs and 40 runs scored.
