Yankees Chill Miller's Hot Streak
Saturday, May 24th, 1930
The New York Yankees pitching staff did its job today, holding hot-hitting Bing Miller hitless in 5 at-bats during the club's 8-5 victory over the Philadelphia Athletics at Polo Grounds IV. The disappointing performance ended a 21-game hitting streak for the center fielder.
"I'm a little down right now," Miller said after the game. "I couldn't get anything going when the team needed me, and I hated to see the streak end, too."
This season Miller is swinging the bat at a .381 rate with 53 hits in 139 at-bats. To date he has hit 4 home runs, scored 34 runs and driven in 30.
