NL Awards Player of the Week Monday, July 15th, 1929 Charlie Gelbert demonstrated his potential to be a star in the game last week and today he took home the National League Player of the Week Award. The St. Louis shortstop wreaked havoc on opposing pitchers last week, pounding them for a .531 average (17-for-32) with no home runs and 7 RBIs on his way to claiming the honor. This year Gelbert is batting .299 with 1 home run and 49 RBIs. |
