Great Week for Philadelphia's Al Simmons Monday, July 15th, 1929 At the age of 28, Al Simmons might have some potential he hasn't realized yet -- if his success at the plate last week is any indication. The Philadelphia left fielder put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days with a .421 batting average. For his efforts Simmons collected the American League Player of the Week Award. He racked up 16 hits in 38 at-bats, 3 home runs and 7 RBIs last week in 9 games. Thus far this year Simmons has hit .412 with 17 home runs and 70 RBIs. |
