Gehrig Wins AL Best Player Award
Monday, September 10th, 1928
At the age of 26, Lou Gehrig might have some potential he hasn't realized yet -- if his success at the plate last week is any indication. The New York first baseman put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days with a .471 batting average. For his efforts Gehrig collected the American League Player of the Week Award.
He racked up 16 hits in 34 at-bats, 5 home runs and 10 RBIs last week in 9 games.
This season Gehrig is hitting .358 with 39 home runs.
