Mize Keeps Hit Streak Alive Sunday, June 9th, 1940 Johnny Mize of the St. Louis Cardinals has now hit safely in 20 straight games. He socked 1 hit in today's 7-6 triumph over New York at Sportsman's Park IV (NL). "20 games is a big chunk of the year, isn't it?" Mize said to reporters. "It's hard to wrap your head around." Johnny Mize struck out in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, flied out in the 6th and hit an RBI single in the 8th. This season Mize is batting .375 with 64 RBIs, 54 runs scored and 18 home runs. |
