Matlock Acclaimed Top Pitcher in May Saturday, June 1st, 1940 Veteran Leroy Matlock put together quite a successful stretch in May for the Boston Bees, earning himself the National League Pitcher of the Month award. Matlock racked up a 6-1 record in 7 starts, posting a 2.47 ERA over 62 innings and striking out 28. So far this year Matlock has made 10 starts, tossed 87 innings, struck out 40 batters and walked 14. His record is 7-3 with a 2.79 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .230 batting average. |
