Milnar Thwarts St. Louis, 7-0 Thursday, September 7th, 1939 Al Milnar kept the St. Louis Cardinals hitters from doing any damage at Wrigley Field today. St. Louis could only muster 3 hits and take 1 walk against the left-handed Milnar, who controlled them throughout the game as Chicago took the contest, 7-0. Milnar added 3 strikeouts in his complete-game effort. "I don't know if I was on or if they were off today," Milnar told reporters after the shutout win. "But whatever it was, I hope it happens again next time." Up to now Milnar has recorded a record of 11-14. In 26 starts he has fanned 75 batters in 211.1 innings with a 3.32 ERA.
