Higbe Tosses Shutout Against Brooklyn Thursday, August 31st, 1939 Kirby Higbe was dynamite at Ebbets Field today, blowing away the Brooklyn Dodgers in a shutout victory. The Chicago Cubs starter had everything working as he held the Dodgers to 5 hits in the 7-0 win. "He was pure nasty out there today," said Brooklyn skipper .
