New York Bats Silenced by McHenry
Thursday, July 20th, 1939
Henry McHenry bent a little, but he didn't break against the New York Giants. The Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher hurled a 7-hit 7-0 shutout in a fine performance, surrendering 5 walks and tallying 5 strikeouts.
"Henry is good at getting out of jams," Pirates manager told reporters after the game. "He's almost more effective when he gets guys on base or gets behind in the count, because he uses your aggressiveness against you."
To date this year McHenry has compiled a 13-5 mark with a 2.82 ERA in 18 starts.
