NL's Top Pitcher in September Is Milnar Saturday, October 1st, 1938 In September, Al Milnar tore through the National League like a seasoned veteran -- quite impressive for a player only 24 years old. The young Chicago starter posted a 5-1 mark and an ERA of 2.76 to earn the Pitcher of the Month award. In 49 innings he collected 20 strikeouts while limiting the opposition to a .251 average. For this year Milnar has chalked up 13 wins and 14 losses in 30 starts with 93 strikeouts in 227.2 innings and a 3.95 ERA. |
