Philadelphia's Jimmie Foxx got the standing ovation -- but the Chicago White Sox got the win.

It was a special day for him at Comiskey Park. A day when Foxx notched hit #2500 of his career. The fans went wild when he did. Even the White Sox fans applauded.

The Athletics first baseman went 2-for-3 in a losing cause as Chicago spoiled the party with the 11-6 victory.

In the postgame interview, a downhearted Foxx told the media, "We lost -- It's not about individual accomplishments -- we lost."

When pressed further, he admitted his pride in reaching the 2500-hit mark, "A lot of great players never get there. I'm proud, but I would be happier if we had won."

Looking at his all-time stats, Foxx has a career .344 average with 2501 hits, 370 doubles, 104 triples, 479 home runs and 1660 RBIs to date. He has scored 1596 runs, walked 1314 times and stolen 63 bases.
