Simmons and Posedel Fight, Get Suspended
Saturday, September 10th, 1938
If there wasn't a history between Al Simmons of Philadelphia and Bill Posedel of Boston, then there is one now. The incident between the two sparked a bench-clearing scrum with those two being the center of attention. Now they will miss 4 and 6 games respectively as a result of their actions. The league office announced their suspensions today.

"We're both really competitive," Simmons said later, "and sometimes things go a little too far because of it."

In 131 games this year Simmons has posted a .279 average and put up these numbers: 11 home runs, 76 RBIs and 68 runs scored.

So far this season Posedel has a 2-4 record, 2 starts, 94.1 innings, 25 strikeouts and a 4.58 ERA.
