Philadelphia Loses Ben Cantwell, Will Miss Season
Thursday, September 8th, 1938
Ben Cantwell will soon find out from his doctors if his season will continue. The first diagnosis was not too positive and indicated the Philadelphia starting pitcher could miss the remainder of the year. Cantwell was injured while throwing a pitch in the Phillies-Dodgers clash at Baker Bowl recently. Doctors said he has a torn meniscus and would be out a minimum of 4-5 months.

To this point in the season, Cantwell shows a 14-10 record, 29 starts, 226.1 innings, 45 strikeouts and a 4.18 ERA.
