Cincinnati Trades Hollingsworth for Cleveland's Grimes
Saturday, July 30th, 1938
Joe Unknown, general manager of the Cincinnati Reds, has signed off on a trade for Cleveland's 23-year-old 1B Oscar Grimes and 23-year-old LF Babe Barna. To complete the deal, the Reds will send 30-year-old LHP Al Hollingsworth to the Indians.


To date this season Hollingsworth is 7-12 with 19 starts and an ERA of 3.70 with 56 strikeouts in 148.1 innings.

This season Grimes has banged out 8 hits in 28 at-bats for a .286 average with no home runs. He is getting on base at a .429 pace and his totals also include 4 RBIs and 10 runs scored.
