New York Yankees Ship Kress to St. Louis Monday, July 27th, 1936 The New York Yankees have made a deal sending 32-year-old 2B Red Kress to the St. Louis Cardinals for 36-year-old RHP Freddie Fitzsimmons and 23-year-old 2B Alex Kampouris. Both sides are said to be pleased with the way the trade worked out. To date this year Kress is batting .322 with 10 home runs. Fitzsimmons has made 17 starts so far this year and put up a 6-12 won-lost record with a 4.27 ERA. In 143.1 innings he has allowed 172 hits, walked 42 and struck out 29. |
