"Good pitching beats good hitting" is an old baseball adage.

Well, good pitching also beats bad hitting.

Harold Carson of the St. Louis Browns proved the point at Sportsman's Park IV (AL) today, holding the New York Yankees to 4 hits in a complete game shutout victory.

"Carson made us look real bad today," Yankees manager said in his postgame interview. "He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking."

Carson had 1 strikeout and gave up 4 walks as the Browns took the 3-0 win.
