A battle-tested George Grantham declared war on opposing pitchers last week, attacking the ball like the well-schooled veteran he is. Today the 34-year-old Pittsburgh first baseman collected the National League Player of the Week Award.
He wrapped up the week with a .467 average, 14 hits in 30 at-bats, 5 home runs, 18 RBIs and 7 runs scored.
To date Grantham has chalked up a .310 average with 13 home runs, driven in 66 runs and scored 48 times.
