Seals Win, Move to Within One Game of World Series
Los Angeles left fielder Wally Berger pounded San Francisco Seals pitchers at Wrigley Field, but it was not enough to keep the Angels from falling, 9-8 in Game 3 of the Nyquist Trophy Series. Berger was 3 for 3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks, while scoring 4 runs and driving in 3 and was named player of the game for his efforts, even as he saw the Angels slip to a 3-0 deficit in the best-of-seven series.

San Francisco needed the clutch hitting of Ted Jennings to notch the win. The second baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Seals on top, 9-8. For the game, Jennings had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"We're happy," Jennings told reporters after the win. "When you're in the playoffs, you've got to treat every game like it could be your last."

Game 4 is scheduled for tomorrow in Los Angeles. The scheduled starters for the game are Lefty Gomez for San Francisco and Satchel Paige for Los Angeles.
