Almost There: New York On Cusp of World Series Triumph After 5-2 Win
Game Four was big. So was Carl Hubbell.

The New York starter rose to the occasion at Wrigley Field today, earning player of the game honors after leading the Giants to a crucial 5-2 victory over the Los Angeles Angels. Hubbell threw 9 innings of 6-hit ball as the Giants won on the road to seize a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven World Series.

The Angels had trouble solving Hubbell, who surrendered 2 earned runs on 6 hits over 9 innings.

"It was just a matter of executing," said New York manager Bill Terry.

Game 5 is set to be played tomorrow. The scheduled starters for the game are Hal Schumacher for the New York Giants and Win Ballou for the the Los Angeles Angels.
