Seals Edge Solons 6-5 to Open PCL Championship Series
The San Francisco Seals started the Nyquist Trophy Series in style today, winning on the road against the Sacramento Solons at Moreing Park by a score of 6-5 to take an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Seals left-hander Lefty Gomez was named player of the game after he threw 8 innings of 7-hit ball.

Frank Cox helped his team jump on top from the get-go. His first time up in the top of the first, he cranked a bases-clearing double to give San Francisco a 3-0 lead.

Solons manager Kurt Peterson did not take questions after the game, telling assembled reporters that he would hold a press conference "if and when we win the Nyquist Trophy Series."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Moreing Park. The scheduled starters for the game are Ed Brandt for the San Francisco Seals and Fay Thomas for the the Sacramento Solons.
