The Portland Beavers went into extra innings against the Sacramento Solons but ultimately moved to within one game of the Round 2 today. The Beavers downed the Solons at Moreing Park by a score of 8-5. Portland right-hander Joe Bowman was named player of the game after a solid outing in which he threw 7 innings of 5-hit ball. The win gives the Beavers a 3-2 advantage in the best-of-7 Nyquist Trophy Series.

Eddie Rose hit a bases-clearing double off Al Gould in the top of the 12th, which put the Beavers in front, 8-5. In addition to the double, Rose had 1 single and 1 walk, while going 2 for 5.

"It feels good to get this one," Bowman told the Portland Observer.

The next game is set to be played Tuesday, October 7th, 1930 in Portland. Slated to start are Fay Thomas for the Sacramento Solons and Bill Posedel for the the Portland Beavers.
