Beavers Even With Solons After Extra-Innings Win
In a crucial game, the Portland Beavers put on their best show, beating the Sacramento Solons by a final score of 9-8 today. Sammy Hale earned player of the game honors, as he went 4-5 with 4 singles. Portland and Sacramento are now tied at 1 wins apiece in the best-of-7 affair.

Late in the game, pinch hitter Homer Summa had a big at-bat for Portland. In the bottom of the tenth, he hit a run-scoring single off Don Osborn. The play gave the Beavers a 9-8 lead.

"Exciting game to play in," said Summa. "Getting the win makes it even better."

The next game is scheduled for Friday in Sacramento. Slated to start are Ted Trent for Portland and Howard Craghead for Sacramento.
