Governor's Cup Series Game 1 Victory for Paige\n and Los Angeles
The Los Angeles Angels started the Governor's Cup Series in style today, downing the visiting San Francisco Seals at Wrigley Field L.A. by a score of 4-2 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Angels right-hander Satchel Paige was named player of the game after he threw 9 innings of 6-hit ball.

Paige allowed 2 runs over 9 innings. He also racked up 6 strikeouts.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Paige said.

The next game is scheduled for tomorrow at Wrigley Field L.A. in Los Angeles. Slated to start are Duster Mails for San Francisco and Rasty Wright for Los Angeles.
